April 24, 2019 Landscape Architecture Receives Reaccreditation

Landscape Architecture Reaccreditation board speaking to college

The School of Landscape Architecture has been granted reaccreditation by the (LAAB) for a six-year period.

In November 2018, the school hosted a team representing the LAAB for a four-day onsite review toward reaccreditation of its three-year Master of Landscape Architecture program. Faculty, students, staff, UT administrators and recent alumni engaged with the review team in meetings, tours of facilities, interviews and critiques of student work.

鈥淚n making its decision, LAAB considered the program鈥檚 self-evaluation report, the visiting team report, and the program鈥檚 response to the report,鈥 states Rodney Swink, FASLA, PLA and LAAB Chair, in his letter to the school.

Following the onsite review, UT received a six-year renewal, which is the maximum number of years a program can receive for reaccreditation.

To be accredited, schools must demonstrate a rigorous course of disciplinary and interdisciplinary education for students and show compliance with educational goals and standards.聽 Programs undergoing reaccreditation are committed to quality and continuous improvement.

LAAB is recognized by the Council for Higher Education Accreditation as the official accrediting body for professional programs in landscape architecture. The School of Landscape Architecture will undergo reaccreditation again in the fall of 2024.

Congratulations to our Director of the School of Landscape Architecture, Gale Fulton, and thank you to our faculty, staff and students for all your hard work, helping make reaccreditation possible.
